Early Detection

Early detection matters and that is where early orthodontic intervention comes in. Early orthodontic intervention can help identify issues early on and that is why it is important that your child be seen for an orthodontic assessment between the ages of 5 and 11. The Canadian Association of Orthodontics recommends that all children should see an orthodontist by age 7.
Early orthodontic intervention can include a variety of orthodontic treatments or combinations of treatments including appliances, the removal of baby teeth, or other interceptive treatments that can guide jaw growth and provide space for incoming adult teeth. The goal is to intercept the developing problem at an early age, eliminating the root cause while guiding the growth of the jaw bone and providing enough space for incoming adult teeth.
